Ladies Billiards

Jason Sudeikis is in a movie that's been on HBO and Cinemax a lot lately, "The Rocker", and it's a movie that I can't resist watching whenever I stumble on it. He's very funny in it and he's very funny in these Classic ESPN sketches.

Mark Wahlberg Talks to Animals

Mark Wahlberg has a sense of humor about himself. It's a great quality.

I just thought of this too. Could Mark be his generation's Kurt Russell or Dennis Quaid? An actor so likable and believable as an every man that you don't care about his lack of serious chops.

Pre-Taped Call In Show

I really need to catch up with "Mr. Show". This is the only thing I've seen from it but it's amazing. If MC Escher wrote comedy, this is what it might be like.

Mr. Short-Term Memory

Mr. Short-Term Memory @ Yahoo!7 Video

I was just talking to someone this afternoon about this sketch. Hanks is THE best SNL host. He really threw himself into the show. I wonder how he would have been as a permanent cast member.

In Living Color - Jheri's Kids

This weekend, when you're rolling up on one of those firemen with the boots, tell them you are saving your change until you see someone collecting for Jheri's kids, J-H-E-R-I. See what kind of reaction you get.

Jack Benny and Mel Blanc on Johnny Carson

Wow! Thanks, Scott, for tipping me off to Jack Benny and Mel Blanc. I've only seen Jack Benny in a couple of things and I've seen him caricatured in the Warner's cartoons but I hadn't seen anything with Mel Blanc. You can tell in this clip that Johnny was a fan and Benny was influence on him.

Carol Burnett Show - No Frills Airlines

The Carol Burnett Show, The Flip Wilson Show, and Monday Night Football are my earliest memories of TV as a kid. This sketch gets predictable at the end but there is some great stuff at the front.

This is Your Story

My 8 year old is watching this with me and keeps asking, "Why are they hugging?".

The Fishing Musician with Wendy O. Williams

I saw this once late at night a long, long time ago but it has always stuck in my head. My memory was off. I thought Wendy O. comes out of her tent topless in the morning, not for dinner. The tone of SCTV was so right. You could watch it and not feel like you had to be laughing every minute of it. Maybe it was the lack of a studio audience or a laugh track but the show ambled and it felt right. When I watch SNL and something doesn't work I get anxious for the cast.

Looking up the correct spelling of Wendy O.'s name I found she committed suicide in 1998. Awful.
